BIRTHPLACE OF MODERN SERBIA

From the tourist point of view, both nature and history did their best to make the Rudnik and Takovo area an interesting one. The former has given it gentle wooded mountains and a whole network of clean rivers and streams, and made it appealing in all four seasons. The latter – either by accident or fate – made this the scene of numerous events and preserved relevant material and spiritual evidence. Most of them happened several centuries ago and some traces even date back to the old Byzantine and Roman civilisations. A lot of this historic evidence has been preserved, and owing to the fact that the new generations are aware of the value of this heritage, a lot of it has been restored and protected and is worth visiting.
